Video - Dane Meets his Big Sisters

Home

Dane is finally home and is resting in his car seat on the couch. He had his circumcision this morning so I'm sure he is a little uncomfortable, but he has still been a good boy. Lindsay is going great as well, we got good sleep last night.

Day One

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=158903&id=712811415&l=00a0bda844

Here is a link to more pics from today. Lots of great visitors today and some much needed food and relaxation for Lindsay. Now she just needs some sleep. So far, Dane has been a great baby. Eating very good and lots of sleeping. Hoping for a good night. Thanks again for everyone's support. Looking forward to Max Brantley tomorrow!

Thanks Everyone!

Thanks for all the support and prayers through the long but rewarding labor and delivery! Lindsay was never really in much pain, it was just a long wait. Delivery was smooth and quick. She actually had to wait a few minutes for the doctor to arrive so she could start pushing. Lindsay had a big meal already and is doing great! No stitches either. We have moved into our room - #3324 / Phone - 502-3324 - Gateway Medical Center Clarksville. 3rd Floor.

Dane Michael Head

9 lbs. 1 oz.
22 & 1/4 Length

22 & 1/4 inches

He looks tall and strong. A lot bigger than Annlee who was under 6 lbs.

9 lbs 1 oz. & Dark Hair

Mommy is doing great!

Worth the Wait!

He's here & healthy!!!

It's Go Time!

She is completely dilated. It time to start pushing!

Progression

Dr Anderson just returned. He checked Lindsay and she is dilated at 7 cm so they increased the pitocin again. Hopefully he may be here in about 2 hours.

Marathon

We are still waiting! Kelly and I had big naps. Lindsay has also just been resting. I just awoke to her telling the nurse, "It hasn't been hard ... just long." The nurses have been reluctant to keep the pitocin doses high because Dane doesn't seem to react well to it, but that slows the labor progression. The Dr has been home resting, and hopefully things will pick up at some point. Lindsay has been a trooper, and has been in good spirits.

Relaxing

Up to 5 cm, but they are going to stop the pitocin to give Dane a little break. Every time they increase the dosage, his heart rate goes down. So they are stopping it until 5 am to give him a little time to regroup. They also gave Lindsay an additional IV fluid (basically sugar water) to help her and the baby because they haven't had any food (and no sleep) in almost 24 hours. Lindsay is resting now and hopefully things will go smoothly after 5 am. The epidural is working fine as Lindsay feels no pain.

Epidural

Finished up the epidural. Lindsay seems to be comfortable and we are hopeful that Dane will be here soon. Still at 4.5 cm, but hopefully things will start to progress now that Lindsay is relaxing.

Slowly ...

Just checked Lindsay again ... up to 4.5 cm. Epidural will given any minute when the lady gets here. Things are slowly starting to happen. I got a little nap in and the epidural should help Lindsay relax and be a little more comfortable. Good support with Kelly, Robin, and Cheryl in the room.

September 24th

Dane is in no rush to get here. Still 3 cm. Lindsay has an oxygen mask on now. She is tired and exhausted. I think she has been awake over 20 hours now with little to eat. It is dark and quiet in the room now ... just waiting for our little man to make his appearance.

Water Broken

Dr Anderson just broke her water. No turning back now.

Comments?

Some people let me know they couldn't post a comment - I think I fixed it where anyone can comment now.
Dr is doing a c-section with another patient so Lindsay hasn't been checked in a while. They keep increasing her pitocin, so contractions are increasing.

Emersen's Visit

Still Progressing

Lindsay hasn't been checked again yet, but I can tell by reading the machine that she is having very strong contractions very close together. Looks like he may be here soon ...

Anyone want to guess the time/weight/length?

I personally think he will be here around midnight, 7 lbs 12 oz, 22 inches
Just got the pitocin added to Lindsay's IV and contractions are coming every 2-7 minutes apart.

Good News

Dr Anderson just checked Lindsay again and we have progress! 2.5 cm dilated, 75%, and soft ... & ready for the next drug - pitocin. That should speed things up a little faster. Looks like things might start to get exciting soon.
Emersen just got here and she is really excited to meet her brother. Doctor Anderson made his first visit, and he will be on call until noon tomorrow. It's nice to know that he will be able to deliver the baby. No new developments ... just waiting. I got to eat a little and I know Lindsay is starting to get hungry.
The nurse just checked Lindsay again. No dilation change. They gave her a cytotec pill when we got here, that is the only thing that has been administered so far. Dane's heart rate has been around 120, and they just had to come in and find it because he had moved around a little. They made Lindsay lay on her side. Contractions seem to be getting stronger and closer together, but it seems like we will be waiting a while. Momma Head got here earlier and stayed in the room a while to visit.

Waiting ...

Nothing new, just waiting and watching TV. Emersen and Robin are coming to come visit.
We have settled into our labor and delivery room and Lindsay is already hungry - she wants Hananoki. They got her all hooked up with IVs in (smooth & easy), labs taken, pills in, and contractions (she finally feels them) about 5-6 minutes apart. She is watching Ellen at the moment. Nurse told us that our children over 4 could be in the room so we are excited that Emersen will be able to visit and see her new brother.
This has been an eventful 2 days. Lindsay had her check up yesterday at 11 am and Doctor Anderson said she was progressing and he would induce her today. The only catch was they were all booked up so she would be on the waiting list. Lindsay's sister, Kelly, and her 1 year old son, Brock, decided to go ahead and make the trip from Knoxville. The doctor said he would call to confirm at 5 pm, and he called at 6 pm and said that he could schedule her at noon. We got home and our upstairs AC was out, so it was hot in our bedrooms and Lindsay had to sleep downstairs (even though she couldn't sleep much) on the couch. So much for a restful final night, we were both up around 3 am this morning. While getting ready this morning around 10 am, the doctor called and said labor and delivery was full and not to come to the hospital! He hoped that some babies would come quickly so he could get Lindsay in today. If not, we would have to wait until Tuesday ... and we were all disappointed. At 1:50 pm, he called and said to come to the hospital. Lindsay woke me up from my nap with Annlee, and we came straight to the hospital. Everything is great so far, just glad that we finally know that we don't have to wait any longer.
Just found out that Lindsay's friend, Amy from the YMCA, just had her baby girl next door. 6 pounds 4 ounces.

Dane Michael Head

We finally got to the hospital. We were supposed to start at noon today, but doctor called around 10 am and said they were full in labor and delivery so we would have to wait for a spot to open up. He said he would call us but we may have to wait until Tuesday! Finally, he just called at 2:00 pm and said to get to the hospital. We are just checking in right now at 2:30. I'll keep everyone updated ...
